The video of the interview follows and the audio of our conversation was broadcast at 16:30 PM, on Monday, the 16th May 2016 on Radio Veritas.

Johannesburg, 17 May 2016 - Father Brian Mhlanga, a Dominican friar, covered the Changing Gear slot from 16:00 PM to 17:30 PM on Radio Veritas, for a number of weeks while the Southern Africa Regional Communications Officer, Gushwell Brooks was away. The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), half an hour slot, that is part of the radio show on Radio Veritas, at 16:30 PM, continued and was covered by Father Brian throughout this period.

Father Brian’s unique approach to the show, gave it a fresh perspective with him doing an exceptional job of interviewing JRS staff on a range of issues. As but one example, he interviewed JRS South Africa, Finance Officer, Vuyolethu Mcimeli the day following Mother’s Day, about the challenges refugee mothers face. This podcast, as well as the many others that took place in the weeks he covered the show will be made available via this website, over the next few weeks.

A number of interviews were conducted with the JRS team across the Southern Africa Region, a series of interviews that will be broadcast each Monday for the next few weeks. The first person we spoke to was Tendai Makoni, the JRS Zimbabwe Country Co-ordinator. She is extremely passionate about the work she does with refugees in Zimbabwe and the impact it has on the lives of those in Tongogara Refugee Camp in Zimbabwe. With programmes ranging from education to Vocational Skills Training (VST), the nearly 11 000 in Tongogara Refugee Camp have had their lives significantly improved.

The video of the interview follows below and the audio of our conversation was broadcast at 16:30 PM, on Monday, the 16th May 2016 on Radio Veritas. Our next guest is JRS Angola Country Co-Ordinator, Luamonazo (Mona) Panda, which can be live streamed here, on the 23rdMay 2016 at 16:30 PM. There is indeed a lot of great content yet to come.
